Thesis: Art Cinema 1/6

This Master's Project proposes a publicly funded Art-cinema or comunal cinema, in Park City, Utah. This cinema merges the tradition of the ArtCinema with theatrical aspects of a Movie Theater. It is to provide a setting for both an intellectual approach to film-watching as well as a celebrative and social atmosphere in part for the annual Sundance Film-festival held in Park City. This cinema features such screenings as alternative, independend and art-film; also retrospectives and specialty theme programs are periodically held. The Art-Cinema not only provides for the screening of films and videos, but also includes a small stage for panel discussions, live music and narrative support for silent films. Space for small exhibitions, a bookstore and a café or gathering place support the public and educational functions of this project.
